Think about the last time something went wrong in your workplace. A broken HVAC system in the middle of summer. A maintenance request that took weeks. An energy bill that made no sense. A security gap nobody caught until it was too late. These are not just inconveniences. They are symptoms of a facility management system that lacks structure, accountability, and verified standards. ISO 41001 is the international standard that changes that — and we are the accredited certification body that independently verifies you have got it right.
We do not consult. We do not implement. We audit and certify. Our role is to independently assess your facility management system against ISO 41001:2018 requirements and issue a certificate that your clients, procurement teams, and stakeholders can genuinely trust.
ISO 41001:2018 is the first international standard dedicated entirely to Facility Management Systems. It defines what an effective FM system looks like and gives organizations a globally recognized framework to build, manage, and continuously improve it.
The standard covers everything that keeps your built environment running — maintenance, cleaning, security, energy management, catering, space planning, and procurement. It integrates people, place, process, and technology into one coherent, auditable management system that drives real performance outcomes rather than a collection of disconnected procedures.
ISO 41001 follows the same High Level Structure used by ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001, which means it integrates cleanly with other management systems your organization already has in place. It applies the globally recognized Plan Do Check Act cycle to drive continual improvement across your entire facility management function.
What makes ISO 41001 unique is that it recognizes two distinct roles in facility management and applies to both. The demand organization is the business or institution that defines what it needs from its facilities. It sets the requirements, outcomes, and performance expectations. Think of a hospital that needs sterile environments, reliable power backup, and round-the-clock security.
The supply organization is the entity responsible for delivering those FM services, whether that is an in-house FM team or an outsourced FM provider operating under contract. ISO 41001 applies to both sides of this relationship. That is what makes it so powerful and so broadly applicable across industries and geographies.
If your organization has a facility management function of any kind, this standard is relevant to you. This includes FM service providers and outsourced FM contractors, corporate real estate and property management companies, healthcare facilities and hospital operators, government and public sector facility managers, educational institutions and campus management teams, hospitality groups and hotel operators, industrial and manufacturing facility managers, and retail chains managing large commercial property portfolios.
For FM service providers in particular, the commercial case is compelling. Procurement teams for major public sector and corporate contracts increasingly list ISO 41001 certification as a supplier qualification requirement. Without it, you may not even make the shortlist, regardless of your experience or track record.
As an accredited certification body, we follow a transparent, internationally aligned audit process from start to finish:
Document Review: You submit your FM policy, system scope, risk assessments, service delivery procedures, performance monitoring records, and internal audit reports. Our auditors assess whether your system is ready for the on-site audit.
Stage 1 Audit (Readiness Review): Our qualified auditor visits your facility, reviews your FM system in its real operating context, confirms the scope is properly defined, and identifies any gaps before the full certification audit proceeds.
Stage 2 Audit (Certification Audit): Our auditor independently evaluates whether your FM system is properly implemented, operational, and effective across the entire certification scope. Every finding is formally documented and shared with your team.
Certification Decision: You submit corrective action evidence for any nonconformities. Our independent certification committee reviews everything and issues your official ISO 41001 certificate if requirements are met.
Surveillance and Recertification: Your certificate is valid for three years with annual surveillance audits verifying continued compliance. A full recertification audit takes place at the end of year three.
Your facilities are not just overhead. They are the foundation your people, your operations, and your clients depend on every single day. NORMEIRA gives you the independently verified proof that your FM system is built to deliver — consistently, safely, and efficiently.
